Jiayi "Ethan" Yu (于家翊)
editJiayi "Ethan" Yu (于家翊)[1] is a Chinese entrepreneur, student leader, and television personality..[2] He served as the student body president at Cushing Academy [3] and later as the Class of 2024 president at New York University's Stern School of Business.[4] At the age of 18, he became the Chief Marketing Officer(CMO) of Beijing Total Education Technology Co., Ltd., leading the company's marketing strategy and growth during a critical phase of its development.[5] Yu is also known for his appearance on numerous Chinese reality TV show including "Meeting Mr. Right" [6] and "NBA China"(in Chinese) [7]
Early Life and Education
editJiayi "Ethan" Yu (于家翊) was born in Beijing, China, and later moved to the United States to pursue his education. He attended Cushing Academy, a private preparatory school in Massachusetts, where he made history as the first student from mainland China to be elected as the Student Body President in the school’s 153-year history.[8]
After graduating from Cushing Academy, Yu enrolled at New York University's Stern School of Business, majoring in finance. During his time at NYU Stern, he served as the 2024 president and was recognized for his academic excellence as the top student in major.[4]
Business Career
editIn addition to his academic pursuits, Jiayi "Ethan" Yu has been involved in entrepreneurship. He served as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for Beijing Total Education Technology Co., Ltd. following an acquisition. Total Education focused on educational data infrastructure, digital platforms, and curriculum development.[5]
Television Appearance
editIn 2020, Ethan Yu participated as a guest on the third season of the Chinese reality TV show "Meeting Mr. Right", which aired on Mango TV and Hunan Television. The show features celebrities and their romantic interactions, providing viewers with insights into their personal lives.[6]
Basketball Achievements
editEthan Yu has a strong background in basketball. He was part of the team that won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA Championship and reached the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship. He also participated in the Spalding Hoophall Classic in 2017 and 2018.[9]
