- Comment: What's needed here are things like reviews that mention him in specific and news coverage that goes into depth about him. Just acting in a notable film or show isn't enough to establish notability, you need to be able to show where his performances in those roles was notable. I'm aware that this can make it harder for character actors to establish notability, as many of the roles would be considered "bit parts" or walk on type roles, but the in-depth coverage is still needed. John Austin Locke (born 29 June 1953) is an English actor. After a prolonged hiatus from the industry, Locke made a successful return to film, television and theatre in 2012. Since then he has gone on to appear in a number of high profile films with roles such as Oliver Wilson in Darkest Hour, as well as appearances in The Favourite, Jupiter Ascending and the upcoming films Vindication Swim and Cyrano.[1]
Locke also appeared as Neil Fromage in the satirical television-series, Year of the Rabbit, a role which drew criticism from British politician Nigel Farage.[2]
Career
editAn English character film actor, Locke made a successful return to the industry in 2012 after a prolonged absence. Known for his work on space opera, Jupiter Ascending for the Wachowskis, Churchill biopic Darkest Hour for Joe Wright as well as the upcoming Cyrano, comedy-drama The Favourite for Yorgos Lanthimos, the Matt Berry television-series Year of the Rabbit, and the upcoming biographical drama Vindication Swim for Elliott Hasler.[3]
Personal life
editAside from acting, Locke commenced a blog in May 2018 in support of the independent film industry worldwide. In particular the blog has supported young independent filmmakers commencing their careers. The instigation of this blog followed his selection as a Jury Member at the September 2017 Dieppe Film Festival.[4]
