Joni Patry is an American vedic astrologer and author. She is the founder and Director of the Galactic Center in Dallas, Texas.

Early life

Patry grew up in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, attending Thomas Jefferson High School, and is the youngest of three siblings. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin where she began her studies in astrology. She is married and has three children.

Career

Patry began doing readings professionally at the age of 23 and teaching classes a few years later out of her home. She began as a Western astrologer, and slowly made the transition to Vedic years later. In 1993, she founded the Dallas Metaphysical Center, which was later renamed the Galactic Center. Patry is a second-level (highest level) certified Vedic astrologer. She has been the online Vedic Instructor for the Online College of Astrology, a Western astrological certification program. Her course, Introduction to Vedic Astrology, is accredited by all major astrological organizations. She has also taught for the American College of Vedic Astrology online program and is a faculty member for ACVA (American Council of Vedic Astrology). She served as the Executive Secretary for CVA (Council of Vedic Astrology) where she published and distributed the International CVA Journal. In 2013, she was given the Dr. B.V. Raman Janma Shatamanothsava Award and awarded the title of Jyotisha Choodamani by the Trustees of the Raman & Rajeswari Research Foundation in Bangalore, India, in appreciation of her contribution towards propagating the systematic awareness of Vedic Astrology.

Her other memberships include the NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research), Uranian Society, Cosmobiology Research Foundation, ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research), Declination Special Interest Group of NCGR, AFAN (Association for Astrological Networking), and serves on the board of numerous astrological societies and is the south central Coordinator for ISAR’s Professional Speakers Bureau.

Patry organized the ACVA International Symposiums held in Hawaii and was solely responsible for organizing the first national conference of its kind, “Eastern Astrology for Western Minds” to teach Vedic Astrology to Western astrologers.

Patry has lectured regularly at national and international conferences such as BAVA (British Association of Vedic Astrology), ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research), UAC (United Astrology Conference), ACVA (International Symposiums for the American Council of Vedic Astrology), Eastern Astrology for Western Minds Conference, Holistic Inner Science Conference, and the Blast. She is often the keynote speaker for national and international conferences and has been on national television and radio programs as an authority on both Western and Vedic astrology.

In 2016, Patry founded the University of Vedic Astrology, an online certification program teaching Vedic Astrology consisting of six semesters each year.

Writings

Patry has written several books and articles on the topics of spirituality and astrology. Her book Eastern Astrology for Western Minds: A Compilation of Neo-Vedic Astrology (ISBN 0975514806) is a complete manual for learning Vedic astrology. In 2013, it was translated into Turkish, where she spent one month each year teaching and doing readings. She has also written How To Make Money Using Astrology (2011), Awaken to The Truth (2009), and Answers (2005). She has a monthly newsletter through her website and also a Japanese website. Her articles are also published in the Indian website Saptarishis Astrology, an annual multi-lingual Astrological E-Magazine that is read in 120 countries.
