Jorge A Zapata is a Mexican-American architect and art patron based in New York City. He was born in San Diego, California and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. He studied Architecture at NewSchool of Architecture and Design[1] and Yale University, where he was awarded the Charles O. Matcham Scholarship. He is the principal of JAZ Architect and the founding President of the Williamsburg Biannual, an arts organization in Brooklyn, New York that is housed in an art center[2][3] of his design. In 2015, Zapata was named NewSchool's Alumni of the Year in recognition of his body of architectural work.[4]
Personal life
editZapata is married to Divya Mahindra, the creative director of Verve Magazine.[5][6]
