Juliette de Causans (pronounced [də ko.zɑ̃]) (Juliette de Vincens de Causans, born Malo on 21 December 1981) is a French politician. Living in the Ardennes, she has been an activist of the Renaissance political party, formerly La République en marche (LREM), founded by Emmanuel Macron. In August 2023, she founded the Europe Égalité Écologie! party, of which she is the president, which emerged from the Égalité Ensemble! movement..
Juliette de Causans was a candidate several times in French elections, without success. In March 2023, she and two other women from her party attracted media attention: candidates for the French Abroad, they were accused of having excessively altered election leaflets. Life
editIn 2019, Juliette de Causans was a consultant in banking and land lawfor an audit firm. In September 2023, she is a French teacher in a high school in Reims.[1]
Juliette de Causans is co-president of Eurocratia, a Europhile think tank, as well as co-founder and secretary of Nous sommes leurs voix, a feminist association for the defense of women's rights.[2]
In July 2021, she lost the elections a second time to join the executive board of La République en marche.[3]
Juliette de Causans was a candidate in the June 2022 legislative elections in the Ardennes, where she won 4.28%. of the votes. In March 2023, she was a candidate in the legislative elections of the French Abroad, which took place in April 2023. Along with Tatiana Boteva Malo and Samira Herbal, she is accused of having retouched her photos on election leaflets, her face being different on the posters for the elections. In the face of criticism, Juliette de Causans claims that the photo is old and is not "photoshopped",[4]
In September 2023, she headed the ecologist list Together, let's have projects for the future! for the senatorial elections in the Marne. The list received 1.79% of the votes, i.e. 28 votes. In April 2024, Juliette de Causans is a candidate on the Ecology in the Centre list for the French European elections. She admited to having retouched her new photo with the help of artificial intelligence, in order to "make our list, our project",[9][10][11][12]. She filed a complaint after several nude deepfakes began to circulate.[13]
