This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by GSS 6 months ago. |
- Comment: When submitting an article about an living individual, it is usual to include inline citations about them, or which at least mention them. This (heavily promotional - so needs to be re-written) draft has almost no mentions of Burbage in its references; just one (the subject's own website, so an unreliable source) actually mentions him at any length. Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable, independent, secondary sources, not passing mentions or merely mentions of people or works he's been loosely associated with. Justin Kalani Burbage (/Bur-bidge/; born July 16, 1994) is a Hawaiian film director and producer.[1] In 2022, he was hired as head of production at Josh Richards's company CrossCheck studios where he directed and was supervising producer of the break-through sketch comedy show Read The Room (2023-2024).[2]
Early life
editJustin Kalani Burbage was born and raised on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Attracted to board sports, he pursued a professional skateboarding career for a few years in Hawaii, before, aged 17, moving to Los Angeles.
Career
editBurbage was picked up by a theatrical agency and commercial agency booking national and international commercials including the Samsung Galaxy 8 international launch commercial, a Nikki Minaj music video, a Tiesto Music video and two test contracts for large TV networks.[3][4][5] Sponsors also came along quickly after his move to Los Angeles.
In 2015, Burbage realized that social media was a great way for him to showcase his love of production and storytelling. He soon left the professional athlete grind and began pursuing video and content creation for the few companies that believed in it at the time. Instagram soon began to take off for him and subsequently led to Burbage being able to travel full time both domestically and internationally for the next 4 years.
In 2017, Burbage began to revisit his dream of creating compelling stories for the silver screen. Under careful mentorship, Burbage was urged to attend the Baron Brown Studio school of acting in a two-year Meisner program in Santa Monica, California.[6] Boasting a robust and star cladded alumni with the likes of Halle Berry, Jeff Goldblum and many more, Burbage was determined to learn all he could to further his dream of directing for the silver screen. Upon graduating from the school in 2018, Burbage wanted try his hand at acting and went straight to auditioning to see what it's like from a directors stand point to which he accredits allot of his ability in working with actors.
In 2019 Burbage was given his directorial debut for a full length documentary called "50 minutes to save the world" (Imdb) amassing a staggering 15 million views. This success catapulted Burbage's legitimacy as a compelling film director.[7][8][9]
Shortly after (2022), Burbage began his time at CrossCheck who garnished an exclusive First look Deal with Prime Studios as head of production where he directed and was supervising producer on all seven episodes of their original show Read The Room.[10] Some of the bigger named guest stars that were casted on this show were the Drew McIntyre, Michael Behling and Oliver Tree just to name a few. Having amassed a whopping 500 hours + of time in the director's chair, Burbage currently has left CrossCheck studios and has now started his own production company called "Alethia Pictures" where he is continuing to pursue his passion of compelling story telling via the director chair.
