KRI Tarakan (905) is the lead ship of the Tarakan-class tanker of the Indonesian Navy built by the domestic shipyard PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari.[1] This ship was inaugurated by the Minister of Defense, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, on 26 September 2014. Initially, the KRI Tarakan was occupied in the 3rd Fleet Command line area but was later moved to 2nd Fleet Command.[2]

Arrest of Tugboat Brawijaya XII

On Sunday, December 4 2018, KRI Kelabang succeeded in capturing the Brawijaya XII tugboat in Bitung Manado waters. After inspection, the Brawijaya XII tugboat was proven to have violated the rules by carrying goods without complete documents. The Brawijaya tugboat was carrying seven crew members and three passengers at that time.

Maritime Security G20 Summit in Bali

In organizing the 2022 G20 Bali Summit, KRI Tarakan played a role in VVIP security operations in the marine task force led by Pangkoarmada II Rear Admiral TNI Dr. Tolhas Sininta Nauli Basana Hutabarat, M.M.S. The air assets deployed in the Bali G20 Summit security operation also involved the Bell 412EP belonging to Indonesian Naval Aviation Center.
