Early Life & Education
Kaitlan C. Farrior was born on January 15, 2002, in Kenansville, North Carolina to Lona Denise Farrior and Derrick Maurice Graham. Growing up, her family relocated to Siler City, where she attended Siler City Elementary School. Following her grandfather's illness, the family moved to Richlands, North Carolina. Farrior attended Trexer Middle School and subsequently, Richlands High School, where she was involved in various extracurricular activities, including the Future Farmers of America (FFA), basketball, and track & field, earning medals in high jump.
She initially enrolled at Winston-Salem State University, majoring in biology. During her freshman year, she became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. After two years, she transferred to North Carolina State University (NC State), where she became active in the theatre program. As of 2024, Farrior is a senior at NC State, pursuing a triple major in psychology, sociology, and Africana studies, along with a minor in social work.
Writing Career Kaitlan C. Farrior is an author and playwright known for her contributions to poetry and fiction. She has written six quickscript plays, a format in which playwrights are given 24 hours to compose a play. One of her notable works, Like I Don’t Exist, was adapted into a play .
Her literary themes often focus on the empowerment of voice, realistic portrayals, and positive representations of Black Americans. Farrior's works encompass a range of genres, including romance, comedy, drama, fiction, and poetry .

Plays and Filmography Alexa Knows Best Like I Don’t Exist Awaken My Love Wanna Play a Game The Last Train The Bridge of Carmen Community Involvement Farrior has conducted workshops for the Durham County Library and Wake County Library, focusing on topics such as writing, imposter syndrome, finding one's voice in writing, and writing wellness . Her book Wayward Child is also part of the circulation at the Wake County Public Library .
Influences Farrior draws inspiration from various literary figures and movements, including Ernest J. Gaines, Nikki Giovanni, the Harlem Renaissance, and Zora Neale Hurston .
