Kalaafaanu School is a government-run primary and secondary school in Malé, Maldives. The school was opened on 25 July 1989 by former president of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.[1]

History

The foundation stone of the school was laid on 16 February 1988. Kalaafaanu School was built with the aid of the Japanese Government. The construction of the school took less than 18 months.[2] After the construction was completed, the school was officially opened on 25 July 1989 by Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Kalaafaanu School was named after Al Sultan Ibrahim Siree Sudhdha Mahaa Radhun (Sultan Kalaafaanu).[3]

The first principal of Kalaafaanu School was Mohamed Rasheed, who served the school for over 10 years.[3]

Vision and Mission

The school's mission is to provide their students with an environment based on Islamic values, where students are supported in reaching their full potential in a holistic and integrated way, and to prepare them to be responsible and loyal citizens of the Maldives.[3]

The vision of the school is to foster effective teaching and learning to be a leading school in the country.[3]
