Leading up to the 2024 United States presidential election, the agenda of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has occasionally been described as communist by the political right. This comparison has been widely criticized.

Hoaxes

edit

A video created by the "Dilley Meme Team", a group of Donald Trump supporters, claimed to show Kamala Harris and Tim Walz posing in front of a sign in support of the Revolutionary Communists of America.[4]

A picture of an ID card from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union was altered with the name of Kamala Harris. Its origin was traced to a website allowing people to create such documents.[4] Social media posts regularly paired the altered picture with a New York Times article claiming to have verified the credential, leading the newspaper's company to produce a statement refuting the claim.[5][6]
