Khadaan is an upcoming 2024 Bengali language period vigilante action thriller film directed and written by Soojit Dutta (Rino). The film stars Dev , Jisshu, Barkha , Idhika, Anirban in the lead roles. Produced by Nispal Singh and Dev under the banner of Surinder Films and Dev Entertainment Ventures, the film is based upon the life of the workers in the coal mines of Damodar Valley.

It marked Dev's return to action genre after a series of family dramas and detective ventures.[1] Rathijit Bhattacharya, Savvy, Nilayan Chatterjee did the music of the film. Shailesh Awashthi did the cinematography while MD. Kalam handled the editing. It is scheduled to release in the theatres on 20 December 2024.

Premise

Shyam comes from a remote village of Purulia to work as a laborer in the coal mines of the Damodar Valley. There he meets Mohan. The story depicts how Mohan and Shyam with their unbeatable spirit, will proceed to change their destiny and rewrite the fate of the other workers, with their reckoning bond of friendship.

Announcement and development

The film was announced by Dev on 1 January 2024 with a motion poster, which revealed the title and the lead cast.[2] It also served as first look poster of Dev's character as Shyam Mahato in the film.[3] On 14 February 2024, on the eve of Saraswati Puja, the Shubh Muhurat of the film was performed.[4]

Filming

Major parts of the film was shot in the coal mines of Asansol and Raniganj in West Bengal. The filming started on 16 February 2024 with a short schedule in Kolkata. It was completed by 10 March 2024. The second schedule and remaining parts were filmed in the Asansol and Raniganj coalfields where Dev had went earlier to recce the place.[5] A scene was filmed at the Rondiha Barrage in Panagarh, where Dev and Jisshu met their fans who came to see the shooting.[6]

The first single "Rajar Raja" was released on 12 November 2024. It marked Dev in a dance song after a period of family dramas with no dance numbers.
