Bill Treeby was a 26-year-old British man who was stabbed to death by his girlfriend 23-year-old British influencer Brooke George in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 22 June 2026.[1][2][3]
George claimed that she had acted in self defense when Treeby allegedly assaulted her.[4] She was charged with premeditated murder and if convicted, she will face execution by firing squad under Emirati law.[5][6]
Background
[edit]Brooke George
[edit]Brooke George is a 23-year-old influencer from Gravesend, Kent[6] and a former John Lewis shop assistant. Brooke was bought a one-way ticket by Bill Treeby and was asked to participate in a bikini photo shoot and had her passport witheld by him.[7]
Incident
[edit]The second time she returned to Dubai. George's mother Thereza said that "she did not seem like herself" but could not tell her why. Before the murder, family and friends of Brooke George were becoming "increasing concerned" that she was being exploited by Treeby.[7]
George met Treeby at Jumeirah Village and returned to his appartment where she was allegedly assaulted while the man is believed to have been intoxicated. Following the assault, she contacted her family and arranged a flight home. It was claimed, George begged Treeby for her passport but was repeatedly punched by him. George said she acted in self-defense when she used a kitchen knife to stab him to death.[7]
Arrest
[edit]Brooke George was arrested in the early hours of 22 June 2026 and is currently being held at Bur Dubai police station where Lee Bradley Brown was killed by police. She was forced to strip naked in front of male officers without any female officer present and described the experience as deeply humiliating and distressing.[6]
Reactions
[edit]A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We are in touch with a British woman detained in the UAE, we are supporting her family, and we are in contact with the local authorities."[4]
