It was written by Luke Brookshier, Tom King, and Steven Banks, and the animation was directed by Andrew Overtoom. Luke Brookshier and Tom King also functioned as storyboard directors. This episode originally aired on Nickelodeon in the United States as an eleven-minute episode on April 01, 2006.
In this episode, SpongeBob, and Squidward find themselves working at Mr. Krab's new fancy hotel. Squidward, after not being able to keep up with Patrick's unserious demands, decides to quit and comes back as a guest and orders a room to give Mr. Krabs a taste of his own medicine.
"Krusty Towers" ranked #4 during SpongeBob's "Best Day Ever" event. In 2011, a Squinkies toy depicting Mr. Krabs wearing his Krusty Towers attire was launched. Strangely, the guide on the Squinkies website matched this toy with a Mrs. Puff toy, incorrectly assuming that his uniform was from the episode “Krusty Love".
Plot Summary
editSpongeBob and Squidward head to the Krusty Krab, only to find Mr. Krabs has converted it into a hotel after being inspired by a high-priced hotel’s charges. The Krusty Towers is born, adopting the motto, “We shall never deny a guest even the most ridiculous request.”
Uniformed, they greet the first guest, but Mr. Krabs’ attempt to attract customers flops. Squidward is tasked with the front desk, and soon, Patrick arrives, mistaking the place for a hotel and demands a room and a Krabby Patty, burdening Squidward with his rock-filled luggage.
Patrick’s incessant requests drive Squidward to quit, only to return as a demanding guest himself, forcing Mr. Krabs to serve him. He orders a bizarre Krabby Patty, which he insists Mr. Krabs eat, leading to a mix-up over missing ingredients.
Squidward then craves cookies like his mother’s, prompting Mr. Krabs to bake and then fetch the authentic recipe from Squidward’s mother. Squidward’s next whim is a room redesign, which cycles through changes until it’s back to the original.
His final ask is for an indoor pool, which Mr. Krabs installs. The fun ends when Patrick’s dive bri/ngs the hotel down, landing them in the hospital. There, Mr. Krabs, eyeing a new venture, decides to send everyone to medical school.[2]
