- Landing platform warship, an amphibious warfare ship (L-amphibious landing operations, P-personnel transport)
- Landing platform amphibious (LPA), a warship, an amphibious assault ship, a ship with a flight deck and hangar used to support a coastal assault from the sea, by air-transporting troops in and supporting aerial attacks; this type may also have a well deck for landing boats
