Lara R. Malins is an American-born[1] Australian chemistry professor at the Australian National University.[2] Malins is a chief investigator of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Peptide and Protein Science. [3]

Career

Born in South Carolina and raised in Hawaii, Malins built her academic career in chemistry across several countries.[1] After completing her undergraduate studies in chemistry at Boston University,[1][4] she earned her PhD in peptide ligation at the University of Sydney,[5] for which she was awarded the Cornforth Medal (2015).[6] She pursued postdoctoral research with Phil Baran at Scripps Research Institute.[1][5] She is a Professor at the Australian National University,[2] where she focuses on developing chemical tools for biomolecule synthesis,[1] supported by major fellowships by the Australian Research Council, the Westpac Foundation and the Snow Medical Research Foundation.[7] During the course of her scientific career Malins has published over 50 scientific articles.[8]
