He is the holder of the honorary Crown of the Leeward Islands in French Polynesia since 2017.
Willing to keep a low profile, his existence and his work for the Maohi and underrepresented people were revealed to the general public during the 2023 French Polynesian legislative elections, when several candidates tried to hide the success of his work as honorary representative, while receiving no help nor support, and for being a team member of LunARC, constitutive project of the Lunar University that is aimed to be the first organization to settle permanently on the Moon[1], along with NASA’s astrobiologist Lynn Harper (initiating founder of NASA Space Portal and Lunar University[2]) and former special assistant to the President of the United States Pippa Malmgren.
Early life and work
editLaurent was born on 9 August 1993 in Uturoa, Raʻiātea in French Polynesia, as Teva Temarii Teriitaumihau, and recognized as son of Mr and Mrs Good, his natural parents.[3] His biological family is Polynesian and he is heir of the Temarii and of Queen Pōmare IV.[4]
Baptized at the Basilique Notre-Dame of Arcachon, Laurent grew up in Pays de Buch, Aquitaine where his father was a forester working throughout the region, and his mother an orthodontist.
French national and Ontarian artist, Laurent is President of Belgium-based nonprofit OFAR-asbl for the development and representation of the Maohi people of French Polynesia[5][6], and works as a independent volunteer on occasional missions in South-America or Eastern Europe, often related to family historical places or past, or to Art[7], Nature and Cultural preservation. In NASA-related LunARC project, he is a team member as Minorities and Underrepresented People advocate since 2022[1].
Family
editHeir to an outstanding family history, well-documented throughout the centuries, thanks to relatives, dedicated organisations and a list of notable historians including Rapin-Thoyras, Otto von Cossel, Laurent has direct links to more than 30 countries worldwide[8] :
Denmark
editLaurent is of Danish descent. The Good or Good of Gürre (af Gurre i Danmark) is a Scandinavian and Danish family originally from Sjælland (Zealand). Together with its allied families the Deconinck, Duntzfelt, Nathanson and Monod, they formed one of the most prominent families of the Danish Golden Age.[9][10][8]
Laurent is heir of the Danish merchants and shipowners Frédéric de Coninck and William Duntzfelt. Many family portraits or commissions to Danish most famous artists of the time (including Jens Juel and C. W. Eckersberg) are displayed for the public at the Royal Castle of Frederiksborg or the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen.[11]
Laurent’s ancestors’ architectural legacy is also very well preserved and many of the family’s palaces and mansions in Sjælland and Copenhagen are known as noteworthy places of the kingdom : Moltkes Palæ[12], Dehn Mansion, Dronninggård Estate, now Næsseslotet[13] in Holte, Marienborg (Danish Prime Minister’s official residence) or the Danish « Good House » Gurrehus Slot[14] in Danish (Gurre Castle), or Good Castle, residence of John Good of Gurre and later of Prince George of Greece, uncle of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg. Gurre is known for having inspired the History of Hamlet and the ruin of King Valdemar’s Castle are still visible next to the Good Castle[15].
The family had a great position under the reign of king Christian VII and Queen Caroline Mathilde, who was influenced by the French enlightenment and Struensee. De Coninck introduced the idea of redistribution in the country, leading to the creation of the Fund for the Poor, supplied by infringement and public fines money.[16][17][18]
Despite being a family of reformed or Anglican confession, the wedding of William Good and Hannah Nathanson (greatx3 grandparents of Laurent) connected the Good with the Jewish European community : the father of Mrs Good, Mandel Levin Nathanson was an economist, publisher and advocate for the Jewish cause in Denmark, editor of the Berlingske Tidende, now Berlinske, one the oldest operating newspapers in the world, to which he added international informations for the first time in the periodical publication domain.[19]
Laurent is descendant of a long line of Danish Consuls and honorary Consuls including his great-grandfather Frederick Good af Gurre in Antwerpen (see Belgium and Iceland). Notwithstanding the foreign origin of the family's name (England, the Netherlands…) it remains the only Danish family to have a dedicated monument called the Column to our Motherland in Holte.[9]
The preservation and publicity of the family history as well as of the Sjælland region’s is managed in Denmark by the Alfred Good Fond[20], settled in Holte.
Italy
editFrom both his parents’ sides, Laurent is of Italian descent : his mother’s family is originally from Ischia and other parts of the former Kingdom of the Two-Sicilies, mainly Campania (Naples, Massa Lubrense). From his father side, he is descendant of Patricians families[21], and of the di Marsigli of Bologna (many family archives are possession of the Vatican)[22][23]. His great-grandfather was Commander of the Order of the Crown of Italy. Laurent speaks Italian and has many relatives living in the country. The life and family of his greatx2 aunt, Sophie Good, wife of Consul A. Fog of Denmark in Sicily, has inspired Italian author Domenico Barillà for his novel ‘La casa di Henriette’[24][25] [26]. Her remarkable Carrara marble tomb in the Palermo cemetery is a noticeable example of the 20s style.[27]
Netherlands
editLaurent is of Dutch descent. By his greatx2-grandmother J. Good-Engels, he is descendant of the Engels family of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.[28] He is also descendant of the Crommelinck[29] and related to Wigbold Crommelin, Governor-general in Suriname, and of the first Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam (now New York - Manhattan)[30] and to Theophilus Cazenove. Because of his father’s family Huguenot confession, and the moving borders of the Netherlands in the past centuries, many of his ancestors from different countries of origin were born, raised or died in the Netherlands: Rapin, De Coninck.[16]
United Kingdom and Ireland
editThe Good aka Good of Gürre family is originally from Yorkshire, established in Kingston upon Hull. Close to the British Crown, its members occupied numerous consular positions, most of them appointed during Queen Victoria's reign, and played an important diplomatic role during the English Wars or the independence of the new kingdom of Norway.
Direct and recognised descendant of the Normans-Plantagenets and the Dùn Chailleann-Canmores, the family is ancient and discreetly linked to many of the great families of the English History.[10]

He is a great-grand-nephew of Guy Nicholas Vansittart of Kent, younger brother of Lord Vansittart of Denham, descendant of Lord Auckland, and cousin of T. E. Lawrence (better known as Lawrence of Arabia).[33]
Among the notable heritage of Laurent’s ancestors to the country, the English History by Rapin-Thoyras is the most enduring contribution.
