Laurie Yoler is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, a tech industry board member.[1][2][3] She currently serves as a venture partner at Playground Global, an early-stage, deep-tech venture capital firm in the Silicon Valley.[4][5]
Career
editYoler began her professional career as a computer scientist specializing in artificial intelligence, working at companies such as Accenture, PwC, and Visa.[6][7] During her time at Visa, she was involved in the development of the Visa debit card.[2][4] She later joined Sun Microsystems, where she helped establish Sun Microsystems Ventures, an early corporate venture capital group.[8][2]
Entrepreneurial ventures
editYoler has been involved in founding and advising a number of companies such as Packet Design, and GrowthPoint Technology Partners, a technology investment bank.[3][4]
Yoler served as President of Qualcomm Labs at Qualcomm, focusing on growth initiatives for the company.[1][6] She was also a board member and strategic advisor at Zoox, an autonomous mobility company acquired by Amazon in 2020.[4][9][10]
During her career, Yoler has been on the boards of more than 30 organizations, including Tesla, Zoox, Bose Corporation, Church & Dwight Co., Inc., Noon Home, and the Computer History Museum.[2][9][10][4][8] She currently serves on the advisory boards for Accenture, Aptiv, and AI4All.[11][4][8]
She also guest lectures at Stanford's Business, Engineering, and Law Schools.[3][12]
