Laurus Ryecroft is an 11–18 mixed, free secondary school and sixth form in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, England.
The school was formed in September 2018 as a result of the urgent demand for secondary education spaces in Tameside. It initially provided 154 Year 7 places in six form groups with 25 students in each.[2][3]
In May 2020, it moved into the permanent school building, which is located on the old site of Littlemoss High School.[2] [3][4]
The school is part of The Laurus Trust which also includes 6 secondary schools and 3 primary schools.[5]
The school was rated as "Outstanding" at its Ofsted inspection, which was carried out in 2023.[6]
The sixth form has opened in September 2023 and has a compacity of 300 pupils.[7][3]
Unlike most other schools, Laurus Ryecroft pupils complete their Spanish GCSEs in Year 9 instead of Year 11.
While the sixth form and the high school are connected, they are physically separated by doors. Alumnis of the school are known as Laureates.
Martin Vevers is the founding Head of School for Laurus Ryecroft before Reece Carling took on the role in January 2024.[3]
