The Legislative Council of Cyprus (Greek: Νομοθετικό Συμβούλειο) existed between 1878-1931 in British Cyprus.[1]
Composition
editThe Legislative Council was composed of 18 members, 9 Greek Cypriots, 3 Turkish Cypriots and 9 appointed British colonial officials. The composition of the Council was organised in such a way that the Turkish Cypriot and British votes would equalise the Greek Cypriot votes and avoid the possibility of the Greek Cypriots pushing for enosis.[2]
