Lindsey Marie Santoro (nee Hulse) is an award winning English stand-up comedian, writer and actress.
Lindsey was born in Birmingham, England and attended St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, Birmingham and Worcester University.
Before taking up a career in comedy, Lindsey worked in various administrative roles within the NHS as well as working as floor staff at The Glee Club in Birmingham. Lindsey began her comedy career by attending a comedy course ran by Midlands comedian James Cook at the Midlands Arts Centre.
In 2014, Lindsey was a finalist at the first Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent awards.[1]
In 2016, Lindsey reached the semi finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards[2] and the regional finals of the Funny Women awards. [3]
In 2019, Lindsey wrote and starred in 'Lindsey and the Cats' as part of Channel 4's The Joy of Missing Out series.[4]
In 2021, Lindsey appeared on Sarah Millican's BBC Radio 4's comedy panel 'Elephant in the Room.'[5] In the same year Lindsey reached the final of the British Comedian of the Year competition, with the final taking place at The Comedy Store, London. [6]
In 2022 Lindsey made her first appearance on Comedy Central Live. [7]. In the same year, Lindsey was tour support for Russell Kane and Joe Lycett on his 'More, More, More! How do you Lycett' tour, including support at Wembley Arena and the recorded show at The Alexandra, Birmingham.
In 2023, Lindsey starred in the 2023 short film Pablo Honey, directed by Jamie Yuan. Pablo Honey was officially selected at the Leeds International Film Festival, Norwich Film Festival, Frightfest and Landshut Film Festival.[8]
In 2023, Lindsey's debut Edinburgh Fringe Festival show 'Pink Tinge' was awarded the Next Up Biggest Prize in Comedy[9] and Lindsey was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer award. [10]
In 2024, Lindsey appeared on Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable,[11] The Stand Up Sketch Show, [12] Comedy Central Live [13] and Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast. Lindsey is due to record her debut Radio 4 series, The Lively Life of Lindsey Santoro, in December 2024. [14]
Lindsey currently co-hosts a regular comedy night, 'Hare of the Dog', alongside Janice Connolly, Alice Rosenthal and Kate Glaze at The Hare & Hounds pub, Kings Heath.
