Lion's Den Martial Arts Academy is a martial arts school that teaches various forms of martial arts to prospective students, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo, and Taekwondo. The club has been in existence since the year 2019. It is headquartered in New Delhi, India.
History
editMixed Martial Artist (MMA) Vijay Saini came up with the idea of a martial arts academy after having been a practitioner of MMA for the past 20 years. [1] Upon completing his training in the South-East Asian martial art, Muay Thai, he contemplated opening a martial arts school for students in New Delhi, the capital of India.
Training
editThe club emphasizes conditioning of the body, as is typical for MMA practitioners. This can range from jumping rope to doing burpees, to doing diamond pushups. Warming up can take longer than typical gym sessions since MMA focuses on complete body workouts with minimal resistance training, the latter of which is noticeably prominent in gyms. The club divides the week into six different training regimes, ranging from boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kick workouts, and Parkour sessions. Vijay Saini believes that this diversity of martial arts leads to an appreciation among students.
Battletime
editThe club also hosts its annual championship, Battletime. The event follows rules similar to what transpires during actual MMA matches in prominent competitions such as UFC and Bellator. The tournament serves as a way for aspiring fighters to compete at district, state, and national-level tournaments.
