Lisa Hunt (born Lisa Sabina Behnke on January 13, 1967 in Spokane, Washington) is an award winning American watercolor artist and author with a focus on tarot and oracle decks. She is recognized for her detailed renderings of spirits, fantastical creatures, shape-shifters, and other ethereal beings showcased in decks, gaming art, magazines, books, and more. Lisa Hunt's work has been published worldwide and translated into several languages including French, German, Spanish, Czech, Chinese and Russian. Hunt earned a master’s in interdisciplinary studies from the Union Institute in 2004, emphasizing Jungian psychology, art, and drawing.
Career
editLisa Hunt has produced paintings for many tarot decks, notably including Shapeshifter Tarot, Celtic Dragon Tarot, the Chesley Award nominated Fantastical Creatures Tarot[1], and the COVR award winning Pastoral Tarot[2]. In addition to her illustrations, solo projects she has written for include The Fairy Tale Tarot, the COVR award winning Animals Divine Tarot,[3] and Ghosts & Spirits Tarot - winner of the About.com 2013 Reader's Choice Awards, Best in Tarot and Oracle Card Decks.[4]
The bestselling Celtic Dragon Tarot tarot deck[5] Lisa illustrated has been translated into several languages around the world. Oracle decks from Hunt include Winged Enchantment Oracle, Fairy Tale Lenormand, and the upcoming Field Guide to the Flower Fae Oracle. Hunt is also the writer and illustrator of the meditation guide Celestial Goddesses[6], that showcases luminaries in goddess mythology from numerous world cultures. One is a Mouse[7] was her first foray into writing and illustrating children's books in 1995.
Personal Life
editLisa Hunt worked as an art teacher at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, as a collectible card game artist, and as a conceptual designer. She is working on new projects in her studio in Boca Raton, South Florida. Hunt is married to Kort Kramer.
