Ting Lu (Chinese: 丁汝; born 18 April 1925) is a Chinese-born mechanical engineer and aerodynamicist. He has been serving as Professor Emeritus at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences since 2002. He previously served as a professor at New York University from 1964 to 2002[1] and at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn from 1957 to 1964.
Early Life and Education
editDr. Ting Lu born in 1925 in Kiangsi, China. Born in a scholarly family, he developed a strong interest in science under the influence of his uncle Rao Yutai. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Shanghai Jiao-Tong University at age 21. After being awarded a Chinese Government scholarship in 1946, he went to study in the USA and obtained a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Harvard University in 1949. Earned a Ph.D. from New York University in 1951 under the supervision of H. F. Ludloff, who was a student of L. Prandtl.[2]
