Lucas Espada ( Manhattan , New York , USA , April 18, 2000) is an American soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper. He is currently a member of 1. SC Znojmo FK in the third division of the Czech Republic, Moravskoslezská fotbalová liga.
Sports Career
Growing up in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Espada played for his hometown club, the East Brunswick Gladiators, coached by his father, Norbert Espada, until the age of 14.
At 14, Espada then joined Match Fit Academy where he would play until he graduated from East Brunswick High School in 2018. Throughout his time at East Brunswick High School, Lucas would also serve as the starting goalkeeper from 2015-2017 for the Bears.
Espada next attended Northeastern University where he would play for the Men's Club Soccer team and serve as a practice player on the Northeastern Men's Soccer Team. While at Northeastern, he would also serve as the Manager for the Men's Soccer Team during his senior year from 2022-2023.
After graduating from Northeastern University in 2023, Espada would join Korsnäs FF competing in the fifth tier, Kolmonen, Finland. He would roster the most minutes at the club at 1,980.
Once his contract ended with Korsnäs FF, Espada signed in the Finnish forth tier, the Kakkonen, for OTP United for the 2024 season. Espada would play 888 minutes for the club.
Then, in September 2024, Espada transferred to 1. SC Znojmo FK for an undisclosed fee prior to the conclusion of his contract with OTP United, thus causing a mutual termination of his contract.
