History

They were officially presented to the public on 05.03.2023. Although that day is considered their founding day, they started operating in 2022.

The founder and current president of this organization is Kristijan Popovski, a student at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. In addition to him, Bisera Nikoloska, Marko Arsov, Aleksandar Balkoski, Ksenija Kraljevska, Evgenija Kolovska, Kiara Lazić, Stefan Gjurovski, Hristijan Bogdanovski, Diana Dimkovska, Ana Vlaški and Anastasija Stojanoska played a role in the creation of this movement. There are representatives in the four cities with the most Macedonian students: Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper and Nova Gorica.

This student organization represents a bridge between students from North Macedonia, Slovenia and the international community. After all, they are representatives of the Macedonian cultural heritage and are a group of proactive people who love unity and friendship, creating better opportunities for development and prosperity, both for domestic and international students. They strive to be the true voice and representative of Macedonian students in the Republic of Slovenia and to build partnerships with student organizations there, as well as with those from North Macedonia.

Mission of the organization: to represent the interests, to improve life and status and to influence the facilitation of Macedonian students studies in the Republic of Slovenia.

Vision of the organization: to provide Macedonian students with a voice and a home in the Republic of Slovenia, as well as their integration through the realization of projects of common interest.

Their main activities are: student support, student representation, education, culture, socializing and entertainment.

They have created a "system of organizational values" according to which they are guided and represent them. These include: caring for their team, working with love, creating quality, embracing diversity, ambition and collegiality.

MSOS also cooperates with companies that invest and actively help the progress and development of students in their careers and in their everyday lives. They maintain active partnerships with: The Student Organization in Slovenia (sl. Študentska Organizacija Slovenije),the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Slovenia, Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Skopje (sl. Veleposlaništvo Republike Slovenije v Skopju), / Union of Macedonian Cultural Societies in the Republic of Slovenia(sl. Zveza makedonskih kulhnih društev v Republiki Slovenije), other student societies (such as Serbian students, Bosnian-Herzegovinian students and others), Macedonian companies in the Republic of Slovenia, business community, universities, libraries and so on.

Events and activities

Macedonian student evening in Ljubljanа (8.10.2022)

The student organization started activities in 2022, when their first event took place, i.e. "Macedonian student evening in Ljubljana" (sl. Makedonski studentski večer v Ljubljani) held on 08.10.2022 at Club Connect in collaboration with [https: //www.kampus.si/ Student Campus - Ljubljana] (sl. Študentski kampus - Ljubljana). The event was organized as a student party with the aim of spreading Macedonian culture and tradition, as well connecting Macedonian students in Slovenia. More than 500 guests and students attended this event. Sponsors of this event were: ​​Makedonija Trade and Student Campus. This event was also attended by the then active ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia in Slovenia, Mrs. Susana Zelenkovska and the president of Union of Macedonian Cultural Societies in the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Blagoja Nasteski.

Meat your Macedonian friends (24.03.2023)

The next big event of the organization, "Meet your Macedonian friends" (slo. Spnoznaj svoje makedonske prijatelje) was held on 24.03.2023. The event was organized with the support of the Department for International Cooperation of the Student Organization of the University of Ljubljana (sl. Resor za mednarodno sodelovanje - Ljubljana) and the Student Campus. International students were present at the party and Macedonian pop and contemporary music was heard. The event was a party, with the aim of bringing Macedonian culture closer to international and Slovenian students, by playing Macedonian modern music. More than 450 guests attended here.

Meet student Slovenia (18.9.2023)

In the same year, in September, on 18.9.2023, their next event "Meet Student Slovenia" took place. This event was a panel discussion where students, members of MSOS, who study at the University of Ljubljana (Kiara Lazić and Angel Naumov), Maribor (Klimentina Chapovska) and Primorska (Igor Arsov) spoke. The discussion was moderated by Leon Shumanski, a student at the University of Maribor. The Slovenian ambassador in Skopje, H.E., Gregor Preskar and the President of the Management Board of NLB Bank AD Skopje, Mr. Branko Greganović also gave a speach. More than 200 future students and their parents attended this event. The event was organized in cooperation with NLB Bank AD Skopje and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Skopje.

MSOS Sport: Volleyball and Basketball Tournaments (11.5.2024)

Their last major event was held on May 11, 2024, titled "MSOS Sport: Volleyball and Basketball Tournaments." More than 40 competitors participated in this event. The event took place in the Rožna Dolina sports hall in Ljubljana. There were contenders from the following countries: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia. The partners of the event were the Center for extracurricular activities at the University of Ljubljana (sl. Center za obštudijsko šištaj Universije v Ljubljani) and trade.si/ ​​Macedonia Trade. A trophy for first place in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and medals for the winners of the 6-on-6 board tournament were awarded, as well as prizes, value vouchers and other gifts for the competitors and all attendees.

Other activities of the organization

In addition to large-scale events and activities, this organization also organizes smaller events and participates in other meetings. It is worth mentioning the following events and meetings: morning coffee at the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana, Škisova tržnica, team-building events and socializing, live meetings with members, picnics, meetings to get to know freshmen students in Ljubljana and Maribor , visits to the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Slovenia, meetings with other student organizations, etc.
