Mahāsahasrapramardinī is known as one of the five protector goddesses of Buddhist mythology, she is said to protect against evil spirits and is located in the cardinal direction of the east[1] as well as holding a set of chants and rituals that hold off evil sprits. This is said to have been imparted by Buddha while at Prabhāsa-vana on Gr̥dhrakūṭa mountain in Rājagr̥ha to Indra, Brahmā[2]
