Mahboob Ali Sial (Sindhi: محبوب علي سيال, Born 8 August 1966), is a Pakistani agricultural scientist, researcher and wheat breeder. His field of specialization is plant genetics.

Education

He completed his PhD in the field of Agriculture (Biotechnology) from University of Sindh, Jamshoro in 2010.

Career

He joined Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission as a Trainee Research Fellow in 1990 and Scientific Officer in 1991. He is Chief Scientist/Director[1][2] at Nuclear Institute of Agriculture (NIA), Tando Jam.[3]

Awards

Sial was awarded Presidential award of pride of performance in 2022 by the President of Pakistan for his exceptional contributions to agricultural science.[4][5][6]

Additionally, he was awarded a gold medal in 2013 by the Chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission for his exemplary work in wheat breeding as he developed six high yielding, disease resistant and stress-tolerant wheat varieties[7] which have significant economic impact in the value addition by agriculture in the economy of the country.[citation needed]
