Cheikh Majd Harb (Arabic: الشيخ مجد حرب; born 5 may 1991) is a Lebanese lawyer and political activist who is best known for his legal actions against hezbollah.
Early Life and Education
editCheikh Majd was born into a prominent Maronite family in Tannourine, Lebanon on 5 may 1991, he is the son of Cheikh Boutros Harb. He holds a bachelor's degree in Lebanese law, a bachelor's degree in political science from Saint Joseph University-Beirut, a master's degree in commercial law from the University of Pantheon-Ass-Paris 2 and a certificate in anti-corruption and financial crimes from the British CISI Institute. [1]
Career
editAs a political and human rights activist, Majd Harb has brought several significant cases to public attention. His first notable case targeted Hezbollah, accusing the group of money laundering, smuggling, and establishing an illegal banking network (referred to as “القرد الحسن”) [2] [3]. He later filed legal actions against the President of Lebanon, Michel Aoun, and Prime Minister Hassan Diab, following the Beirut Port explosion on August 4, 2020, arguing that they failed to take necessary steps to remove hazardous materials stored at the port—a legal move unprecedented in Lebanon’s history. [4] Most recently, he has brought charges against several Lebanese ministers, accusing them of abuse of power and embezzlement of public funds. [5]
