Draft:Margate Crab Museum

The Margate Crab Museum is a museum situated in the Old Town of Margate, Kent, United Kingdomabout crabs. It has a goal of making science more accessible and fun for children,[1] part of this is done by teaching "by stealth".[2]

It claims to be: "Europe's first and only museum dedicated to the world of the decapod"[3]

It is a comical museum about the significance of crabs and how crabs behave. It is also arguing against the London Science Museum's Shellsponsorship of a climate change exhibit.[4][5]They are arguing (among others) for a boycott of the London Science Museum over this reason. The crab museum is also a proponent against colonialism and capitalism,[6] due to the environmental damage. This has caused for some negative feelings towards them.

The museum opened in 2021 with free admission (which is still the case).[7]It is supported entirely by donations and their gift shop.[2]

In 2022, it was the environmental partner of the Rise up Clean up initiative in Margate that aimed to reduce the litter on Margate's beaches.

It has attracted much attention from other more established museums, such as the natural history museum.[2]

It was created by Ned and Bertie Suesat-Williams with Chase Coley, who are directors.

The museum is partnered with The Vagina Museum.
