Mary George Jordan Waite is the first woman elected president of the Alabama Bankers Association.[1]
Education
editMary received her AB Degree in English and Sociology and an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Huntington College in Montgomery.[2]
Career
editMary became president of Farmers and Merchants Bank after the death of her father, who previously held the position.[1] Mary also held leadership in many other organizations, including the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs, and the the Alabama Department of the American Legion Auxiliary.[1]
In 1993, Mary was the first woman elected president of the Alabama Bankers Association.[1]
