Mason Thames (born 10 July 2007) is an American child actor, known for starring in the Scott Derrickson-directed horror movie, The Black Phone[1]. He also featured in Apple TV+ series, For All Mankind.[citation needed]
He is currently set to star in a live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon, set to release in 2025.[2]
Career
edit2017-2020: Beginning
editThames made his acting debut in 2017, featuring in short film, After Omelas.[3] He was then featured in Apple TV+ series, For All Mankind, created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi.[4] He featured in three episodes of the first season.[citation needed] After, he was then cast as Robbie Knievel in Evel, a biographical drama based on the life of Evel Knievel, however production was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5][6]
2021- : Breakthrough
editThames was soon cast as the lead in a Scott Derrickson horror film, The Black Phone,[7] starring alongside Ethan Hawke, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and James Ransone.[8][9] The role garnered him widespread acclaim, and the film received generally positive reviews from critics.[10] He is set to return in the sequel, reprising his role as Finney Blake. Thames also featured as a Young Walker in the first two seasons of Walker.[11][12] In November 2021, he wast cast alongside Mel Gibson in Boys of Summer, an indie feature directed by David Henrie.[13] In June 2022, before The Black Phone's wide theatrical release, he was cast in high-school comedy, Incoming, from Spyglass Media.[14] In June 2023, he was cast in Universal's live-action adaptation of How To Train Your Dragon, set to star alongside Nico Parker.[2]
