"Mau Makan Apa ¿" Is a short webcomic uploaded March 3rd 2024 and created by Bajra Gadha Panglima Balangga ("Labirhin") , that spans the duration of 9 pages, It takes place in Labirhin's fictional universe and is based on the premise of a dystopian world where food is scarce and a soy based product called "Tempe" is the main source of food.
Fictional universe
editThe world where "Mau Makan Apa ¿" occurs is an alternate "earth" planet where anthropomorphic animals roam the earth, and a volcano (Mount merabu) created a cloud layer that blocks most of the sunlight, causing a volcanic winter. Only a few organisms survived after that, making food harder to obtain. In 1995, a company called Jaya Abadi created food that could be consumed by the public (Tempe Jaya Abadi 1995), which didn't become popular until all the fish became inedible due to a waste leakage in the sea.
Jaya Abadi also created "Limit" material (1998), a material made by compacting a lot of trash into a stable and strong material using a process which makes dense matter less heavy.
This discovery lead to the creation of Atom-O (private military company), a company focused on research and military discovery. their projects include:
- Moonlocking (2000 - 2004)
- Global freezing (2006)
- Skyscraper (2018)
- Switchstar (Planned for 2020)
- KS (Unknown)
- Deus ex machina (2003)
The Atom-O corporation created a secret project aimed to create superpowerful beings, the "KS" project created a total of 5 "KS"
- Jamal (KS-1)
- Bambang (KS-2)
- Erika (KS-3)
- Garong (KS-4)
- Tobii (KS-5)
Corporations
editATOM-O
editAtom-o is a privately funded military technology company created by Jaya Abadi and Anoir focused on developing advanced weaponry and defense systems for national security purposes, the company leverages private investment to pursue research in both military applications and potentially dual-use technologies (advanced materials, space research).
Moonlocking (2004)
editThe moon's escape from Earth's orbit prompts JAYA ABADI & ATOM-O to relaunch the JM-1 project. These colossal magnetic structures, one on Earth mimicking the moon's movement and another stationary on the moon, aim to re-stabilize the lunar orbit.
ANOIR
editAnoir Corporation, a state-owned company under President Dono Diamond, dominates the community's fish consumption. They cultivate fish in both open seas and underground facilities. State Control:
- Anoir serves as the sole provider of fish, leaving residents with no alternative protein source.
- Strict state regulations seemingly prohibit individuals from raising their own fish, further solidifying Anoir's monopoly.
JAYA ABADI
editThe biggest company in the world, they produce all the food consumed by the public, and since the fish poisoning, Jaya Utomo (the C.E.O. and Founder) only trusts his A.I. Companion "Xenobot-72"
This company owns Atom-O. Jaya TV and Jaya food products.
Animated version
editEpisode 1: DEUS EX MACHINA PILOT
editthe first episode, it introduces the world and companies, this episode also treats the "Deus ex machina" project, a project aimed to stop a volcano from thickening the clouds causing the nuclear winter. Sadly this project failed, killing over 26.000 inhabitants, the pilot Raas Busok was never found.
