Michael Barsamian (born June 1st, 1946) is an Armenian-American entrepreneur and real estate developer. He is the owner of The Belgrade Group, comprising Lord’s & Lady’s Salons, Green Tangerine Spa & Salons, Mizu Salon, James Joseph Salons, and Corbu Spa & Salon.
Early Life and Education
Born on June 1st, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, Michael Barsamian is an Armenian-American entrepreneur, hairdresser, and real estate developer. Raised in West Roxbury by immigrant parents who survived the Armenian genocide, Barsamian graduated from English High School in 1964.
Career
Barsamian entered the beauty industry, opening his first salon, Lord’s & Lady’s, in 1971 in West Roxbury. Over the years, he has expanded his empire to include twenty-six luxury salons, such as Mizu, James Joseph, and Green Tangerine Spa & Salon. Notably, he employs over 750 people and generates over $25 million in annual sales.
In addition to his success in the beauty industry, Barsamian ventured into real estate development. He notably built Belgrade Place, a 39-unit apartment building in West Roxbury in 2012, and is contemplating further projects, including a luxury apartment building and hotel in Saugus.
Personal Life
Michael Barsamian resides in Westwood with his wife, and they have three grown daughters and five grandchildren. Actively involved in philanthropy, he supports causes such as the American Heart Association, inspired by his father's early death due to a heart attack.
Despite his business success, Barsamian remains down-to-earth and continues to cut hair on Saturdays in West Roxbury, maintaining a connection with his roots in the beauty industry.
