Michaell Jackson Wright (born July 11, 1987) is a Colombian professional basketball player currently starting as a small forward for the Caribbean Storm Llaneros of the LBP.[1] He also plays as a forward for the Colombia national basketball team.
Playing Career
editCimarrones Del Choco
editWright initially joined the Cimarrones Del Choco, appearing in at least 5 games. On October 4th, 2017, Wright put up a then career high with 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 steals, in a win against Hebraica y Macabi,[2] in the first leg of a back-to-back-to-back. He followed up this performance on the second leg, with a stat line of 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals, recording a double-double, and recording 33 points on the third leg of the back-to-back-to-back.[3][4] After at least two more appearances with the Cimarrones Del Choco, Wright joined the Piratas de La Guaira.
Piratas de La Guaira
editOn June 17, 2018, in his first appearance for the Piratas, Michaell Jackson Wright opened with a then career-high of 35 points, while also posting 8 rebounds and 6 steals, in a victory over the Panteras.[5] In 17 games with the Piratas, he finished with two thirty-point games and six twenty-point games. After joining the San Andrés Warriors, Jackson averaged 13 points in three straight losses before being transferred to Team Cali.
Team Cali
editOn November 3rd, 2020, Michaell Wright almost completed what would have been his first triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists in a victory over the Condores de Cundinamarca.[6] In 10 appearances with Team Cali, Wright Averaged 18.4 points and 6.8 rebounds.
Cafeteros
editOn March 24th, 2021, Wright made his first appearance for the Cafeteros, with 23 points and 8 rebounds[7]. After a series of losses, Jackson was transferred to the Storm Islands.
Storm Islands
editJackson would make his first appearance for the Storm Islands on October 24th, 2021. On November 25th, 2022, Jackson would score 27 points, being the highest he has scored for the Storm Islands.[8]
National Team
editWright made his first appearance representing Colombia in FIBA competition in the South American Championship for Men, where he would average 17.6 points, managing to place 5th. On June 30th, 2016, Jackson led his team in points, with 26, in a blowout loss to Argentina.[9] In 2017, he played in the FIBA AmeriCup, losing the three games he appeared in. Despite the Colombian national team not qualifying for any major championships since 2017, Jackson most recently represented them in the 2025 AmeriCup Qualifiers, appearing in two games while only putting up one point per game.
