Mitchell Mazzarella (born July 24th 2005) is an Australian politician. He is a Liberal Party member and is a sitting Councillor on the Shire of Yarra Ranges for Melba Ward as an Independent Liberal since 2024.[1].
Career
editPrior to running for Council, Mazzarella worked as a teachers aide at a local school whilst studying teaching at Australian Catholic University.[2]
Mazzarella was elected as a Councillor at the 2024 Victorian Local Government Elections to represent Melba Ward on the Yarra Ranges Shire Council, defeating incumbent mayor Sophie Todorov by 104 votes, the closest of any ward in the Yarra Ranges[3]. Mazzarella is the youngest Councillor elected to the Yarra Ranges Shire Council at 19 years of age and one of the youngest Councillors elected in Victoria[4][5]
Personal Life
editMazzarella grew up in Mooroolbark and was educated at local schools. Mazzarella plays Ice Hockey and Squash and is a member of the Lilydale Squash Club.
