Moremi Ojudu

Moremi Ojudu is a Public Communication Strategist and is currently the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria (President Bola Ahmed Tinubu) on Community Engagement covering Southwest Nigeria.

Early Life and Education

Moremi Ojudu was born on 12 November 1989 in Lagos Nigeria to  Senator Babafemi Ojudu  and Mrs. Adejoke Foluke Akinwande. She attended the International School, University of Lagos, where she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2006. She proceeded to study French at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2010 and subsequently a Masters Degree in Public Administration and International Affairs in 2022. Moremi hails from Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

Career

Prior to her appointment in President Tinubu’s administration, Moremi served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. In this position, she served as a policy researcher, legislative assistant, policy analyst, social media and communication expert.

As a Development Advocate, she championed the cause of youth development, gender-based issues and affirmative action. She provided pragmatic contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria at the grassroots, state and federal levels.

She has been a leading voice in encouraging youth and women participation in politics and governance. She was a modest contributor to the passage of the “Not Too Young To Run Act” and the “35% Affirmative Action Act”.

Public Space

Moremi is a regular feature on talk radio shows, television programs as a guest contributor and she is very active on social media. She has made several presentations, organized seminars, training sessions and lectures on social-economic empowerment of all citizens young and old. In May 2023, shortly before the elections in Nigeria, she hosted over a thousand people in Lagos at a training program on how to cast a proper ballot to make their votes count.

Moremi is dedicated to empowering the less privileged, promoting community outreach and engagement, advocating for gender equality, and increasing youth participation in politics.

Creativity

Moremi is the founder of Chez Mo Outfit, an arts and fashion design outfit. She also founded Youth Next, a movement aimed at preparing young Nigerians for leadership roles and encouraging political participation. Additionally, she was a co-founder of 1THUMB, a youth initiative program supporting credible electoral processes in Nigeria.

Moremi has held several notable positions in Nigerian politics and public service.

Senior Special Assistant to the President for Community Engagement (South-west Nigeria):

Appointed in 2023, Moremi is responsible for overseeing community engagement strategies within the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Her work involves coordinating with local communities, addressing regional issues, and implementing programs that promote social and economic development.

Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly:

Before her current role, Moremi served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Her responsibilities included providing policy research, legislative support, and communication strategies. Her tenure involved working on legislative initiatives and policy analysis, contributing to the effective functioning of the state assembly.

Public Relations Officer:

At the Federal Ministry Of Culture and Tourism, She served as a Public Relations Officer with the Federal Agency, Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization, She was responsible for developing and managing collaborative relationships with partners and relevant stakeholders. Moremi planned and implemented arts exhibition programs, co- produced media skits that promoted parity between men and women in the society and earned commendations from the management board for identifying and mobilizing audiences in taking progressive stance against age long cultural limitations inhibiting the growth of women in the society.

Policy Analyst and Communication Expert:

Moremi has been active as a policy analyst and communication expert in various capacities, focusing on issues such as youth development, gender equality, and affirmative action. Her work in these roles involved analyzing public policies, advocating for legislative reforms, and engaging with stakeholders to promote community-oriented solutions.

Leadership in Community Initiatives

Founder of Youth Next: Moremi founded "Youth Next," a movement designed to prepare young Nigerians for leadership roles and encourage their involvement in politics. This initiative focuses on fostering leadership skills and political engagement among the youth.

Co-Founder of ITHUMB:

As a co-founder of "1THUMB," a youth initiative program, Moremi has supported efforts to promote credible and transparent electoral processes in Nigeria. The program aims to empower young people to contribute to the democratic process and support electoral integrity.
