Mustansari is a minor a sect of Shia Islam. The branch was created before the Nizari - Mustaili split in Isma'ilism.They believe al-Mustansir Billah was the last Imam of his time, and that only the Imam Mahdi would come in order to make Islam dominant and establish peace.
History
editThey at their peak were at a size of some several thousands in Fatimid ruled areas (≈9000-15000) around (1094-1149) some of them had migrated to Iran and Yemen and established very small communities and later around Mediaeval Punjab they had a small community in Multan and in the present day and age the only known and surving community is in Kota, Rajasthan of some several hundreds (300-450) people.
Theology
editTheir theology believes in one God Allah and the doctrine of Tawhid; they also believed in the doctrine of khatm un nabiyeen and that Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib was his successor and till Imam al-Mustansir Billah was the last Imam of his time and that the Mahdi would come and would make Islam dominant and Bring peace to the world.They also believe have believe that Qur'an, Hadiths, Itjihad and personal reasoning and rationality are all valid to guide a judgement or a matter of theology apart from established milestones.They also had a similar concept of Da'i al-Mutlaq of Tayyibi Isma'ilism they had a position called Hadi.
They also believe in the 7 Ismaili Pillars
1 Walayah Believe in Tawhid,Qiyamah,khatm un nabiyeen ,Imamah and believe in Hadi as the leader of the faith
2 Taharah Purity of Actions and Thoughts and Eating Halal and avoiding Haram they also apart from Pork and Alcohol Prohibit Tobacco or any substance like Drugs
3 Salat They combine the 5 Obligatory prayers into 3 Fajr Dhuhr/Asr Maghrib/Isha And Wudu Before prayer and facing the Qibla
4 Zakat 2 types of Zakat -Zakat e Khair 2.5% of one's Income -Zakat e Tabligh 2.5% of one's income (Not payed by minors,retired people,women,non Muslims, unemployed people, people in poverty)
5 Sawm Fasting during Ramadan from Fajr to Maghrib/Isha
6 Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca
7 Jihad- 2 types of Jihad in their teachings Jihad e Akbar-From the self from your own Bad Ideas and Habbits Jihad e Asgar- Military conflict declared by a Prophet/Imam or a Hadi
And apart from these they Believe that Prophet Danyal was also a Prophet of Allah and extinct sects/minor opinion in them is that these figures were also Prophets but their teachings were corrupted. Zoroaster Buddha Mahavira Rama Krishna Laozi Confucius Aristotle Plato Socrates Pythagoras.
They believe that Imams are Infallible but that their Hadis are guides of the faith and not divinely appointed.
They also don't curse Abu Bakr,Uthman,Umar,Aisha
