Development

edit

After the success of KGF: Chapter 1 in 2018, it was reported that Prashanth Neel had visited N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and narrated a script which impressed the actor. The project was supposed to be Neel's debut in Telugu cinema; however, that position instead went to Salaar (2023).[1] The project was reported to be funded by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar's Mythri Movie Makers.[2][3] The production process would reportedly begin in 2020, after Neel completes KGF: Chapter 2 (2022).[4] The following July, Yerneni confirmed the project.[5] However, Neel firstly prioritized his project with Prabhas, which became Salaar, which led to Rama Rao beginning to work on Devara (2024).[6] The project was funded by Yerneni and Shankar's Mythri Movie Makers along with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and Hari Krishna Kosaraju's N. T. R. Arts.[7]

Filming

edit

Principal photography began with an inaugural puja ceremony on 9 August 2024 at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad with the film's cast and crew.[8]

Release

edit

The film is scheduled to release worldwide on 6 January 2026 in theatres, coinciding with Sankranti.[9]
