Natalia Fabia (born April 3, 1983) is a Polish-American painter based in Southern California.
Over her decades long-career, her work has been featured in numerous magazines including: Vogue Italia, Elle Magazine, LA Weekly, VICE, The Los Angeles Times, NYLON Magazine, and Juxtapoz.
Her works have been described as "a testament to the modern woman."[1]
Personal Life
editNatalia Fabia was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her parents immigrated from the Polish People's Republic, she is the eldest in the family.[2]
Natalia Fabia currently lives in Orange County, California, along with her husband Jay Bentley and their two children. Peribeau and Dragon.
Career
editNatalia Fabia is a graduate from ArtCenter College of Design's Illustration program.[3] Fabia's career began in the 2000s by showing in various exhibitions around Los Angeles.[4] She quickly established herself in the field of figurative painting,[5] and her early works drew comparison to Toulouse-Lautrec in both style and content.[3] She has been "described to represent the LA's new progressive women of the 21st-century" and credited for "re-inventing how we see the modern women."[6]
Her early works are "filled with people, lush environments, ornate fashion, light interiors, glamour, graffiti, landscapes, punk rock music and an unapologetic sexiness."[7] Whilst her later works, predominantly from her show Rainbeau Samsara, focused on "life cycles and the stages and emotions within those time frames, from birth to transition."[8]
Natalia Fabia's works have been exhibited in international exhibits such as: Long Beach Museum of Art, Bakersfield Museum of Art, and the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.
Fabia is known for predominantly using oil and employing alla prima painting techniques.[9]
