Nate Watson is an American track and field athlete who competes as a sprinter for Pittsburg State University. He specializes in the 200-meter and 400-meter individual events, as well as the 4x400-meter relay. In 2025, Watson emerged as a national-level competitor after qualifying for the USATF National Championships.

Early life and high school

Watson was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Ritenour High School, where he competed in varsity track and field and earned two athletic letters. Following his high school career, he committed to run collegiately for the Pittsburg State Gorillas in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Collegiate career

Watson competes in NCAA Division II for Pittsburg State University. Running for the Gorillas, he established himself as one of the premier 400-meter runners in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

During the 2025 outdoor season, Watson achieved a major career milestone on May 24, 2025, when he recorded a personal-best time of 45.32 seconds in the 400 meters. His performance earned him a qualifying spot at the 2025 United States Track & Field (USATF) National Championships held in Eugene, Oregon.

In the 2026 indoor season, Watson continued his success at the MIAA Indoor Championships, where he clocked a personal short-track best of 46.29 seconds in the 400 meters. Later that year, at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Watson competed in the individual 400 meters and served as a core member of the Gorillas' 4x400-meter relay team, helping the squad finish 2nd overall in the national finals with a time of 3:05.40.
