National Shred Day in the UK falls on 2 October.

The day, first launched in 2021[1] by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA)[2] in collaboration with Crimestoppers,[3] was designed to provide an opportunity for small businesses and members of the public to destroy their confidential materials securely.[4] The event also provided an opportunity for members of the public to seek guidance from Crimestoppers and shredding providers on what to do with their confidential documents.

For the inaugural annual event, community shredding events were hosted at Morrisons stores across the UK. This included branches in Gloucester,[5] Nottingham,[6] Glasgow, Edinburgh,[7] Southampton, Farnborough,[8] Camberley, Cardiff, Crayford, Gateshead, Enfield, Leamington Spa, Norwich, Sheffield, South Kirby, and Yeovil.[9]

This was achieved by many of the UK's shredding service suppliers coming together to perform the shredding on-site in bespoke shredding vehicles that can destroy documents into small confetti-sized pieces.
