Olapeju Ibekwe is a Nigerian social entrepreneur currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sterling One Foundation, a foundation that focuses on girl empowerment and other social issues.[1]

Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS)

Olapeju Ibekwe was a speaker at the 2022 Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS), a non-profit program focusing on sustainable development in Africa, which is also a joint initiative of Sterling One Foundation and United Nations in Nigeria.[2] Prior to the 3rd edition of the summit which was held in Lagos on July 2024, Ibekwe disclosed at a press conference that more than 40 percent of participants of the previous year summit have received investments.[3]

Filmmaking

On March 2020, Ibekwe's feature-film, Chatroom debuted in Ikoyi Lagos.[4] The film which highlights the stigma of abuse had the likes of Omawumi Megbele, Odunlade Adekola and Waje in attendance at its private screening.[5] [6]

Public Speaking and Advocacy

Ibekwe represented Sterling One Foundation at the 2022 Triennale summit of Association for the Development of Education in Afric(ADEA). The event which was held in Mauritius brought together experts and stakeholders who discussed challenges affecting African youth in the educational system.[7] Ibekwe in her presentation highlighted the need for attention in regions of Nigeria with low access to education.[8] [9]

Awards and Recognition

In December 2022, Ibekwe received the Leadership Impact Award in Nonprofit Management at the CSR Reporters Philanthropic Awards.[10] In 2023, she was named one of Ventures Africa's 20 Women of Impact.[11]
