Openly is a Boston based homeowners insurance provider founded in 2017 by Ty Harris and Matt Wielbut.[citation needed] The company sells insurance policies exclusively through independent agents and operates in multiple U.S. states.[1] Its products are underwritten by Rock Ridge Insurance Company and members of the Clear Blue Insurance Group.[2]

History

[edit]

Openly launched its first homeowners insurance products in 2019, initially offering coverage in Illinois and Arizona.[3][4] The company later expanded into Massachusetts and other states, building a network of independent insurance agents.[5] By 2022, Openly worked with over 17,000 agents across 19 states.[6][7] In 2024, Openly expanded into three additional states, bringing its total coverage to 24 states, and partnered with nearly 50,000 independent agents.[8] Later that year, the company was named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startup Employers list.[9]
