The college of agriculture sciences is one of Oregon State Universities' (OSU) 11 colleges, offering a broad focus on agriculture research and academics. As a public land grant and research university college, the headquarters are located on OSU's main campus in Corvallis, OR, OSU was one of the first universities in the west to adopt a college of agriculture sciences. Established in 1883, the college of agricultural sciences was the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.[2]
Agriculture continues to be one of Oregon's, and the nation’s, most important economic industries. As populations increase, everything from food resources to climate change are being affected, creating new demands for agricultural science graduates to help find solutions to these issues throughout the world.<ref>"Agricultural Sciences Degree Check Sheet". agsci.oregonstate.edu.
