Oswald Winkel (Jan 7, 1874 - July 18,1953) was the inventor of the Winkel-Tripel Projection. He was a German Cartographer known for creating the Winkel-Tripel Map Projection in 1921. Winkel played a part in processing and designing the overview and travel maps of the Baedeker travel guides. He was born in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. He also died in Leipzig.
