Papa's Pizzeria is a video game that is part of the Papa Louie series created by Flipline Studios. The game combines restaurant management, cooking, and strategy gameplay as users run a pizza shop and fulfill orders for customers. Like other games created by Flipline Studios, Papa's Pizzeria was designed as a free-to-play Flash game. It was released on August 7, 2007 [1]. Users can play it on the Flipline Studios website and other websites that host free-to-play games. The Papa's series was initially impacted by the Adobe Flash shut down of December 31, 2020, but websites such as Cool Math Games were able to get them up and running again using AwayFL.[2]
Gameplay
editPapa's Pizzeria opens with an introduction scene where players first meet Papa Louie. He is a successful chef and needs to leave his pizza store to run his other businesses. Users play as Louie's nephew, Delivery Boy Roy, as he takes charge of the restaurant. Players learn how to make pizzas for hungry customers as they as for different cuts, cooking times, sauces, crusts and toppings. More of these add-ons are slowly introduced as players level up and progress. Different customers are unlocked as the player serves more people. The better the execution of the order, the more pleased the customer will be, and the higher they will tip.[3] These customers often make guest appearances in other Papa's Games.
In addition to cooking, players also need to design the restaurant and make upgrades. These upgrades can be purchased with the money earned from running the restaurant.
Papa's Pizzeria To Go! was released in November 2014, making the game available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.[4] It was designed for players operating on a touchscreen. Players could also choose to play as Joy rather than Roy.[5]
Papa's Pizzeria HD was announced in May 2017 to mark the 10 year anniversary of the original web game. It was released in August 2017. It was similar to the other Pizzeria versions but had new features and items to unlock [6]. Roy and Joy could officially team up together and run the pizzeria as a duo.[7] Holidays were also introduced in this version[8] where players are encouraged to buy furniture and outfits to fit the theme. This game is playable on iPad, Amazon Fire, and Android tablets.
According to Flipline Studios, Papa's Pizzeria has unlimited gameplay..[9]
Reception
editFlipline Studios created additional restaurant-running games as part of the Papa Louie franchise once Papa's Pizzeria was released. [10], with Papa's Burgeria being the next entry in a long line of games. According to the Cool Math Games website, over 600,000 users have cast ratings for the game, with it earning a 4.5 out of 5 stars.[11] The game has achieved similar rankings on other minigame host sites such as Poki[12] and Crazy Games[13]
