Paul Walters (born April 11, 2004) is an American soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship on loan from FC Cincinnati.
Career
editYouth and college
editWalters played one season of college soccer at Northwestern University in 2022, making 4 appearances.[1]
FC Cincinnati
editOn January 20, 2023, Walters was signed to MLS side FC Cincinnati as the sixth homegrown player in franchise history. His contract runs through 2026 with a team option for the 2027 season.[2]
FC Cincinnati 2
editWalters made his first appearance for the Cincinnati second team in MLS Next Pro on May 29, 2022, while still an academy player.[3] After signing with the first team he spent the 2023 season with FC Cincinnati 2 making 18 appearances.
Walters kept two clean sheets during the 2023. The first came on July 9th against Chicago Fire FC II during a 0-0 draw. This was also the first clean sheet of FC Cincinnati 2's season.[4] His second clean sheet came on August 27th against New York City FC II. This was also the teams first ever win against them.[5]
Hartford Athletic
editOn March 8, 2024, Hartford Athletic announced Paul Walters as a loan signing for the 2024 USL Championship season.[6] Walters made his debut only one day later as Hartford defeated El Paso Locomotive 1-0 to open the season.[7] He kept a second clean sheet on the season in the clubs next game against Birmingham Legion matching his personal record for one season as a pro.[8]
