Jacobus Pieter ("Peter") Corbijn ( Heeze , December 15 , 1964 ) is a Dutch former footballer . He played for Helmond Sport , PSV , VVV and Eindhoven , among others .
At the age of 17, the left striker went from VV Geldrop to the then Eredivisie side Helmond Sport in 1982 , where he played in the second team for the first six months and then made his appearance in the first team. On March 5, 1983 , he immediately scored a goal during his competitive debut in the home match against PEC Zwolle (result 2-2). A year later, the youth international switched to PSV. There, in the 1984-85 season, in addition to seven league games, he also played two matches in the UEFA Cup , as a substitute in the away games at FC Vorwärts Frankfurt and Manchester United . He was then loaned by PSV to VVV. He was a starter there in the 1985-86 season . A year later he was ousted from the main squad by another PSV mercenary, Frank Berghuis . The Venlo club therefore decided to rent him out halfway through the 1986-87 season to first division team Eindhoven, where three other VVV players were on loan at the time: Jos van Aerts , John Versleeuwen and Mario Verlijsdonk . After six seasons at Eindhoven and a year at the Belgian KFC Dessel Sport, he finally returned to the amateurs of Geldrop in 1993 .
In April 2007, Corbijn contributed to Amateurs in Oranje , a book about the fifty-year history of the Dutch amateur team.
