• Comment: I'm not quite seeing notability here, of any flavour. The academic credentials don't seem to meet WP:NACADEMIC (h-index of 31, per Google Scholar, in a buzzy discipline like biochemistry, probably isn't enough to satify #1 of that standard?); the Folktinget seat doesn't qualify under WP:NPOL; and the cited sources are all primary, apart from the two Yle pieces which don't provide significant coverage (one mentions him only in passing, the other not at all), so WP:GNG is not met, either.
There is also too much unreferenced information for an article on a living person (WP:BLP). DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:18, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Peter Mattjus is a Finnish biochemist currently working as a Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry [4], at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Åbo Akademi University in Turku [5]. Since 2002 he is also a Docent in Lipid biochemistry.

Peter Mattjus´s research interests span the study of sphingolipids and lipid transfer proteins. His group is most known for the contributions to the biochemical and biological role of the glycolipid transfer protein, GLTP[6]

Peter Mattjus is married to Pia Roos-Mattjus since 2000. The couple has two children.

Education and early career

edit

Mattjus obtained a Master of Science from Åbo Akademi University in 1993 with the major subject of biochemistry and minor subjects chemistry and biology. He received an Ph.D. in 1996 from Åbo Akademi University. The title of Mattjus doctral thesis is Interaction of cholesterol with sphingomyelins and phosphatidylcholines in model membranes [7]. His doctoral dissertation was held on May 10, 1996 with Professor Irmin Pascher form Göteborg University as the faculty opponent. Beginning in 1997, he pursued a Postdoctoral Fellowship under the mentorship of Rhoderick E. Brown at the Hormel Institute - University of Minnesota, Austin, Minnesota, until 2002. In 2002 he return to the Department of Biochemistry at Åbo Akademi University and established the Lipid transfer protein research group. From 2002 until 2007 he was employed as a Academy Research Fellow by the Academy of Finland. From August 1, 2007, Peter Mattjus works as a Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry.

In 2007 [8] and 2013 [9] Mattjus co-authored two papers in Nature [10] describing the function of the transfer protein four-phosphate adaptor protein FAPP2. [11]

Political positions of trust

edit

Mattjus is a member of the Swedish Assembly of Finland since 2017[12] representing the Swedish People's Party of Finland. He was member of the Folktinget committee of education between 2017-2023[13]

Sports activities

edit

During the 2021-2022 season Mattjus had the role of team manager in the ladies handball team in Pargas idrottsförening[14] when the club did them comeback[15] at the highest level since 1994[16].

During the years 2016-2019 Mattjus volunteered as the team manager for the 2007 girls handball team i Pargas idrottsförening team handball section.

From 2017 to 2021 Mattjus served as the secretary and board member in the handball section of Pargas idrottsförening[17]
