The Philippines swellshark is a species of swellshark in the genus Cephaloscyllium and the family Scyliorhinidae.
Range
editThis species was discovered around Luzon island in the Philippines in a trawl net.[1].
Discovery
editTwo individual sharks were caught in a trawl net around Luzon island in the Philippines. An expedition was led by the California Academy of Sciences in 2011. On the expedition, the Philippines swellshark was one of 300 potential new species. On the expedition, they were documenting the wildlife in and around Luzon, and found new species almost every day, such as nudibranchs[1].
Habitat
editThe sharks were caught at a depth of about 2,000 metres[2]
